The canvas cover had a 4 inch possible bigger rip in the seam at the left top.I didn't notice this until I already had everything together with my wood on the rack. So I just decided to sew it up. Hopefully it will last. Didn't want to go through the headache in returning and having to put wood elsewhere. Already worked to hard on everything else to get where I was, once I noticed. But do want to post for awareness. Maybe look before asymboling. If it wasn't for that I would have gave a better rating.
Small package; big results. Chose this one for extended base supports to hold weight. Purchased a 1/2 cord of wood but I*m thinking they supplied extra# because all did not fit. Loving the thick cover and should do well in adverse weather. Wood recommend#. sorry, has to say it!
This is a good mid level Firewood Rack . It did keep the wood dry during a rain storm last week. the Zippers on the front of the cover are great. The assembly did not take to long and were not hard to follow. (For best results assemble this on a flat surface). Time will tell how well this holds up, but I have purchased a second one because I ended up with more wood than I expected.
A firewood rack on its own is useful, but in wet or damp climates the wood doesn't last very long before decaying fast. The cover included with this rack really puts it over the edge and has ensured that I have wood ready for use in the fire pit throughout the very wet winter. The rack uses a ton of screws to assemble, which is tedious to get it together but each metal piece is sturdy enough on its own. The quality is mid-tier, some screws and screw holes needed extra work to align, but the entire unit was able to come together. The rack isn't particularly deep, so it took a little extra effort to find a spot on my uneven yard for it to stay upright and more stable.
Easy to assemble. Looks great. Held all the wood#even the big pieces.
Easy to put together. Took me about a half hour. It's pretty lightweight so you'll need to keep about 2 rows of heavy wood in the bottom so it doesn't blow over or blow away. Overall, it kept my wood dry all winter!
It's been quite the cold Winter here in the Midwest so I scooped up this firewood rack to keep us stocked up. It has really helped me save money since you can get a cheaper price on wood when you buy in bulk. It was very simple to assemble and fits great on my patio. The metal feels sturdy and holds plenty of wood to last you for weeks. I like that it's versatile in that you can place it indoors without the cover or choose to apply the waterproof cover and use it outdoors. In terms of looks, it doesn't take away from the design or look of my patio. I think it looks quite nice tucked away in the corner.
Was the perfect fit for what we needed..
This firewood rack is very basic but definitely functional -- it's pretty handy for the given task of stacking some firewood and keeping it dry (slightly elevated off the ground via the metal base; and decently protected from the elements via the cover). If used as an indoor rack, it's a on the big side (probably twice the size or more of any other indoor racks I've used) -- but as an outdoor rack, it's relatively small vs. other racks I've used -- but that could be a good thing, either way, depending on how much space you have available and how much wood you intend to store. I often get an annual delivery of wood of at least half a cord -- so I'm going to need at least 2 racks of this size (maybe 3, depending on how high and how densely I really turn out to be able to stack the wood into this rack -- currently I only have a small amount of firewood leftover from last winter to test with). The product description lists the size at 48" long x 12" wide x 45.7 high -- so nearly 4 feet long by almost 4 feet high, and with just a one foot depth (and claiming to holding 1/4th a cord) -- I haven't pulled my ruler out, but I'd say the measurements look about right. However, getting a full fourth of a cord into this while keeping it stable is probably going to take some pretty careful wood-stacking and puzzling together, as I quickly realized even with the small amount of firewood I have on hand to test with that these dimensions fill up more quickly than I was thinking it wouldThe rack arrives completely disassembled, compactly stored in a surprisingly small box (when it arrived, I couldn't believe that a 4-foot firewood rack could possibly fit inside the box, but it's all there alight!), with almost no labeling on the box -- if you're giving this as a gift, it's gonna very mysterious to the recipient in terms of what they're getting, at least until they look at the instructions, because upon arrival it just looks like a random selection of small metal poles haha. The instructions are very basic; and, as another reviewer noted, they kinda skip over some key details (like making sure to install the thin stabilization plates into the base to keep it from being wobbly -- if you miss this step, you'll need to remove the legs from the base and then reattach them with the plates, so keep any eye out for that). Assembly is pretty straightforward, easy enough, as long as the parts align (you may need to jiggle and force some pieces into place; I'd highly recommend using your own screwdriver set, ideally a ratchet or power driver, and possibly keeping a rubber mallet or dead-blow hammer on hand to help speed up assembly), you're basically just popping the hollow metal rods into each other and screwing them into place. The metal seems very strong and solid -- but it's not super thick and there aren't a lot of reinforcements, just the basic skeleton -- so I'm a little nervous about how well this is going to hold up under a full load of wood. As a few other reviewers have noted, it would've been better if there was at least one more metal tube running along the top-back and/or middle-back to act as stabilizers and prevent the sides from bending or bowing out over time when under the pressure of a full stack of firewood.I'm also hopeful that that this rack doesn't start rusting after sitting outside for a couple of years -- the weather-resistant paint on it seems fine, but the quality of that sort of thing can be tricky to figure out until you've had a chance to let an item like this actually deal with real-world conditions for a season or two. Finally: The cover seems fine. Basic plasticky canvas material, like you'd expect for a cover like this (along the same lines as what you'd get for a basic outdoor BBQ grill cover or patio furniture cover, etc.) -- what the product description calls a "PVC-coated 600D Oxford cover." It's not super-thick, and it's looks kinda thinner and more wrinkly in-person than the sleek product photos imply, but it fits fine and should mostly keep the rain and snow out.
I like how sturdy the metal log rack is; it can store up to 550lbs of firewood. The raised base let's me keep it clean underneath....I'm always skittish of wood piles on the ground because it's a fave hiding place for Rattlers and Copperheads. I can easily see underneath this log rack when approaching it.The cover is nice, but mine looks like it's been cut with a box cutter in quite a few places. I'm not happy about that....but it has been made very well and would definitely keep my wood dry and ready to use. Good product.
The package arrived much smaller than I thought it would. This is because all of the metal pieces are about 16 inches long, and you bolt them all together. There was an extra bolt for each size, and two extra nuts when I was done assembling the Firewood rack. I must say, that the rack could benefit from an additional brace along the top back. That would help keep the sides from bowing out when you load it up with firewood. Also, the cover is perfect for people who cut their firewood at 16 inches. So far the cover has kept out the rain that we have received, and I am hoping that it holds up to the snow and ice just as well.
Perfect to keep firepit logs dry.
I wanted to get my husband a small log holder for the backyard because he enjoys lighting up the fire pit. I knew this was not gonna be that heavy duty, but was more interested in the outdoor cover because of the Illinois rain and winters. It did not take too long to assemble, and everything fit. There were even a few extra pieces. It definitely isn*t a very high-quality one, and we will have to see if it withstands the winter.
Got this assembled in about 20 minutes. Appreciated the extra screws and nuts. (Nothing worse than being shorted!) Pieces were well marked, instructions easy to follow and assemble. Due to the multi-section base, I think this will be very sturdy. I do have some concern though that the sides might bow out a bit since the metal isn't very think (1/2" maybe). When I stack the wood on it, I'll run a cable from each side piece to try to relieve some of that pressure. I didn't expect the frame to be heavy duty for this price. I got this one because of the cover. It is heavy duty, slips over the entire rack of wood, and opens on the front with a flap. Tie downs at the bottom. This will make it very easy to access the wood!I'll try to watch this over the next few months and report back with any changes under normal use conditions.
